Aircraft set for takeoff with Lucerne green steel

Lucerne/Essen - As of 2023, Swiss Steel Group of Lucerne will exclusively supply green steel to thyssenkrupp Aerospace. Green steel is characterized by particularly environmentally friendly production processes.

From next year Swiss Steel Group will exclusively supply green steel to thyssenkrupp Aerospace. Green steel is characterized by particularly environmentally friendly production processes, which, according to a press release, generate 80 to 95 percent fewer emissions than the industry average. 

By using green steel, thyssenkrupp Aerospace intends to support aviation industry customers in the decarbonization of their supply chains. “We see an ever-growing demand for CO2 reduced material among our customers. The aviation industry in particular is heavily involved in the topic,” commented thyssenkrupp Aerospace CEO Patrick Marous. The parent company of thyssenkruppAerospace, thyssenkrupp Materials Services, aspires to be climate-neutral by 2030. 

“This agreement is another highlight in our previous cooperation with the thyssenkrupp group,” said Frank Koch, CEO of Swiss Steel Group.

Headquartered in Lucerne, Swiss Steel Group specializes in tool steel and non-corrosive long steel. It has in-house production and distribution companies in over 30 countries and employs almost 10,000 staff.
