Auto AG opens new business park in Rothenburg

Rothenburg - Auto AG has opened its new business park in Rothenburg in the canton of Lucerne. The full-service provider in the commercial vehicle and transport sector invested a sum of around 25 million Swiss francs in the construction of the seven-story building. Ten companies have already moved into their rented premises on site.

According to a report in the newspaper “Luzerner Zeitung”, Auto AG opened its new A2 business park on time in mid-October. Despite all the setbacks it experienced along the way, the full-service provider in the commercial vehicle and transport sector did not exceed its budget of 25 million Swiss francs for the seven-story building with an area of 10,000 square meters. “Around 1,200 tons of steel were used in the construction and the price of steel alone rose by half a million francs during the construction phase”, comments Marc Ziegler, CEO of Auto AG, in the press release.

Commercial spaces are located on the lower and upper floors of the building. Here, demand far exceeded supply, Ziegler explains in the report. In contrast, there is still room for improvement in the office space on the middle floors. “We have let more than half the available space, so that’s a decent starting point”, Ziegler states. As such, the company does not need to rush into letting out the other areas.

Upon opening, a total of ten tenants, who between them account for 60 percent of the available space, moved directly into the business park. According to the report, these include companies such as the kitchen manufacturer Orea, the Swiss subsidiary of the awning manufacturer Warema and the vehicle glass repair specialist Carglass.

Auto AG also has plans to install a solar system on the roof of the building. The approximately 150,000 kilowatt hours of electricity produced each year by this system are to be used to generate hydrogen. Auto AG is responsible for the maintenance of Hyundai hydrogen vehicles in Switzerland and plans to fill the vehicle tanks with its own hydrogen after carrying out maintenance activities.
