Interactive energy exhibition coming to Lucerne

Lucerne - The canton of Lucerne and the Swiss Museum of Transport want to enable people to experience energy as a tangible construct. To this end, the two partners are establishing an interactive energy exhibition hosted by a new building at the museum. In addition, a learning and experiment lab will also open at the museum.

“Energy is a key future topic”, the canton of Lucerne writes in an official press release. In order for the canton to achieve its target of climate-neutrality by 2050, it is dependent on citizens supporting measures in this area. The canton of Lucerne therefore places great importance on clearly communicating with the general public, the press release states.

Together with the Swiss Museum of Transport, the cantonal government of Lucerne wants to enable people to experience energy as a tangible construct. The partners explain in the press release that an interactive energy exhibition as well as a learning and experiment lab will move into a replacement building at Switzerland’s national museum for transport and mobility, which is currently under construction. These new facilities are expected to open in April 2023.

Across an exhibition space of around 600 square meters, visitors will have the chance to explore the relationship between the energy transition and its impacts on society, with this complex subject presented in a manner that can be easily grasped. Among other aspects, issues such as the sources from which we obtain energy and how a fuel cell functions will be covered at the exhibition, the press release explains. The canton of Lucerne and the Swiss Museum of Transport intend to continuously enhance the exhibition, which was designed for different stakeholder groups, in line with the “rapid development of innovations in the energy sector”.

“The Swiss Museum of Transport is the ideal partner for us to raise awareness among the general public about the important issues of climate and energy”, comments Fabian Peter, member of the cantonal government of Lucerne, who is responsible for these policy areas. “At the Swiss Museum of Transport, exhibitions are transformed into experiences and knowledge can be conveyed in an entertaining way”, he adds.
