Schindler back at pre-pandemic level

Ebikon LU – The elevator and escalator company Schindler based in the canton of Lucerne has registered as many orders in the first nine months of the year as in 2019. The increases above all stem from orders from the Asia-Pacific region. Sales have also returned to the pre-pandemic level.

Schindler has been able to overcome the difficult market environment resulting from the coronavirus pandemic. In the first nine months of the year, the global elevator and escalator company from Ebikon in the canton of Lucerne was able to increase all of its important figures.

Order intake rose by 12 percent in the first nine months of the year compared with the previous year to reach 9.04 billion Swiss francs according to a press release. This means that the level from 2019 before the pandemic has been achieved. Schindler registered more orders in all regions and on all product lines. Orders from the Asia-Pacific region saw the greatest growth.

Sales in the first nine months of the year increased by 7.4 percent to 8.28 billion Swiss francs. The pre-pandemic level was also achieved here. The Asia-Pacific region achieved the highest rate of growth.

Operating profit rose by 24.4 percent in the first nine months of the year, reaching 913 million Swiss francs. Net profit was 689 million Swiss francs after a previous year’s level of 548 million Swiss francs.

Schindler was established in 1874 and is headquartered in Ebikon. The company manufactures elevators, escalators and travelators. According to information provided by the company, its products serve over 1.5 billion people per day in buildings and at transport hubs.
