Amphasys and Arsenale Bioyards joining forces to develop innovative bioprocess platform

Root/Pordenone - Amphasys and Arsenale Bioyards are cooperating to develop an innovative bioprocess platform. It is hoped that this will shorten development cycles, improve process predictability and eliminate the trial-and-error approach currently used in scaling up biomanufacturing activities.

Amphasys, a supplier of real-time single-cell analysis technologies headquartered at Technopark Luzern, and the Italian firm Arsenale Bioyards, which has developed an innovative, fully integrated biomanufacturing platform, have announced that they have signed a Joint Development Agreement (JDA). The aim here is to combine the companies’ proprietary technologies to develop a next-generation bioprocess platform.

To this end, Amphasys is providing the cell analysis component based on its proprietary impedance flow cytometry technology. According to Amphasys, this technology is renowned for its high-precision, label-free characterization of all types of cells, which facilitates measurements during the production process. The cell information acquired in this way in real time is integrated into Arsenale’s AI-powered bioreactor and data platform. As the statement explains, this results in the creation of the first platform to directly link cell information with the results of bioprocesses on an industrial scale.

The platform is intended to significantly shorten development cycles, improve process predictability and eliminate the trial-and-error approach currently used in scaling up biomanufacturing activities. This advancement should accelerate the transition to sustainable biomanufacturing, according to the statement. «We are excited to merge our cell analytical technology with Arsenale’s revolutionary biomanufacturing platform, creating a new standard for data driven bioprocess development», comments Amphasys CEO Marcel Ottiger.

Amphasys, which is based in Root in the Swiss canton of Lucerne, enables precise and efficient single-cell analysis in various industries, including agriculture, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals. Arsenale Bioyards is developing a neo-industrial biomanufacturing platform that integrates advanced hardware, AI-driven software and precision fermentation into an end-to-end system.
