Axiom Space Establishes Swiss Subsidiary in Lucerne
Lucerne - US space company Axiom Space is expanding its European presence by establishing Axiom Space Switzerland in Lucerne. The new subsidiary will serve as a hub for collaboration with European space, research, and industry partners.
Space company Axiom Space has announced the establishment of its Swiss subsidiary, Axiom Space Switzerland, in Lucerne. The new entity is expected to begin operations in summer 2026 and will strengthen the company’s collaboration with European institutions, research organisations, and industry partners.
Axiom Space is one of the leading providers of commercial human spaceflight services and is developing Axiom Station, the planned successor to the International Space Station (ISS). Through its new presence in Lucerne, the company is creating a European platform for engagement with the European Space Agency (ESA), its member states, and Europe’s broader research and industrial community.
According to the company, Switzerland was chosen for its political stability, strong international research and technology network, and central location within Europe. Lucerne further stood out due to its proximity to leading research and engineering institutions and its innovation-friendly environment.
From Lucerne, Axiom Space Switzerland will focus on activities in advanced microgravity research, in-space manufacturing, orbital computing capabilities, and joint development projects with universities and research institutions. The subsidiary will build on Axiom Space’s existing European partnerships, including its collaboration with Thales Alenia Space, which manufactures modules for the future Axiom Station in Italy.
Fabian Peter, Member of the Government Council of the Canton of Lucerne and Head of the Department of Construction, Environment and Economic Affairs, welcomed the company’s arrival: “Axiom Space’s presence reinforces Lucerne’s role as a hub for advanced technology and international collaboration and reflects the strengths Switzerland offers to companies operating at the frontier of science and industry.”
With the establishment of Axiom Space Switzerland, Lucerne gains a company operating in a future-oriented sector that is becoming increasingly important worldwide. The new subsidiary is intended to serve as a long-term platform for collaboration with European governments, universities, businesses, and organisations active in the space and deep-tech sectors.
