Due to coronavirus, the demand for disinfectants and hygiene products has increased dramatically. B. Braun, which manufactures disinfectants for professional users in the healthcare sector, has noticed this and has now increased production at Sempach by around 20 percent according to a report by SRF. Even so, demand is outstripping supply.
Initially, only existing customers are being served. According to Roman Kübler, CEO of B. Braun Medical Switzerland, B. Braun does not want to supply to retailers as there is a danger that these products will be resold at an extortionate price. The company itself has not increased its price.
In addition to the production site for disinfectants and hygiene products, Sempach is also the location of the Swiss headquarters of B. Braun. According to its own information, the company employs 187 staff there. Besides Sempach, B. Braun has further Swiss sites in Lucerne, Escholzmatt LU, Crissier FR and in the region of Zurich.
