Bachmann Group expands solar power output

Hochdorf - The Bachmann Group has installed solar panels on another roof at its headquarters in Hochdorf. This brings the Lucerne-based packaging specialist's solar power plant to a peak output of just under 2.5 megawatts. Almost all of the electricity generated is used for the company's own consumption.

The Bachmann Group has expanded the solar power system at its headquarters in Hochdorf in the Swiss canton of Lucerne. "Another roof is now part of our solar power plant," reported the group, which specializes in packaging for food and non-food products, medical supplies, and transport, as well as plant trays, in a LinkedIn post. "With this further investment, we are consistently focusing on a sustainable future – and are well equipped for sunny days," the post writes.

A total of 3,927 lightweight flex modules and 1,862 conventional solar panels have been installed in Hochdorf to date, covering a roof area of 19,350 square meters. Together, they have a peak output of 2.475 megawatts. This enables the plant to generate around 2.3 gigawatt hours of electricity per year – 96 per cent of which is used by Bachmann itself, covering around 15 per cent of the company’s electricity requirements.

According to Bachmann, the company has invested 3.3 million Swiss francs in the plant to date. A solar power plant is also in operation at HerkuPlast-Kubern GmbH in Ering in Germany, which was acquired by the group at the beginning of the year. It produces around 500 megawatt hours of electricity per year.
