Berner Klinik Montana acquires Luzerner Höhenklinik Montana
Crans Montana/Lucerne - The health clinic Berner Klinik Montana (BKM) is acquiring the rehabilitation centre Luzerner Höhenklinik Montana (LHM), also located in Crans Montana in the Swiss canton of Valais, on 1 January 2026. A corresponding agreement has been reached with Lucerne Cantonal Hospital and the Canton of Lucerne.
Berner Klinik Montana (BKM) is acquiring Luzerner Höhenklinik Montana (LHM) on 1 January 2026. According to a statement, an agreement has successfully been concluded between Lucerne Cantonal Hospital (LUKS), the Canton of Lucerne, and BKM. Going forward, the Höhenklinik’s operations will be in the hands of BKM. Both clinics’ IT systems will be adapted before the takeover.
«Acquiring this company and its highly skilled team is a great opportunity for us,» Philippe Eckert, Director of Berner Klinik Montana, is quoted as saying in the statement. «The integration of LHM will enable us to develop synergies in musculoskeletal, psychosomatic, and oncological rehabilitation, as well as to expand the range of services offered by BKM to include pulmonary rehabilitation.»
According to the agreement, the Canton of Lucerne will initially retain ownership of the land and buildings. BKM will lease the Höhenklinik’s main building as well as the Villa Claire staff building for three years. It will then reportedly have a two-year option to purchase the property for 13.5 million Swiss francs.
Florian Aschbrenner, CEO and Chairman of the Executive Board of the LUKS Group, said he was pleased with the agreement’s conclusion. «It was very important to us to find a suitable solution for LHM’s employees. This we have secured with the sale to a highly renowned clinic in the rehabilitation sector, which is also based locally,» he said.
The LHM will remain on the Canton of Lucerne's hospitals list. Patients can still choose the clinic for inpatient rehabilitation according to the framework of the law granting freedom of choice in selecting hospitals.
