Calopad receives more than 4 million Swiss francs for smart patch

Rothenburg - Investors and a federal technology fund are giving more than 4 million Swiss francs to Calopad AG for its pain therapy. This will enable the startup to drive forward the launch of the first reusable heat patch on the European market as well as development of a cooling patch.

The Medtech company Calopad AG has increased its capital by more than 4 million Swiss francs. The funding round included both existing and new investors as well as the technology fund of the Swiss Federal Office for the Environment. According to a press release, the startup is preparing for market entry in Europe with its reusable heat patch for pain therapy. It is also working on the development of a cooling patch.

The technology fund guarantees loans for companies whose products contribute sustainably to a reduction in CO2 emissions. Co-Founder and CEO Michael Breiter believes that this support is a huge vote of confidence and shows that the company’s innovation is coming to market. He adds: «We are also proud that we have already been able to help thousands of customers to alleviate pain or tension and thus improve their quality of life with our innovative therapeutic model.»

According to the information provided, Calopad is the only heat patch that can maintain a constant temperature of 42 degrees Celsius for hours. This is the optimal temperature for muscle regeneration and pain treatment. It is a medical device with the corresponding certification. Calopad’s ecosystem also includes a physiotherapy app based on artificial intelligence. Breiter explains that the company plans to develop a network of Calopad therapy practices over the medium term as well.
