Canton of Lucerne is home to a Hidden Champion in the form of ajila

Sursee - ajila is considered to be a largely unknown Hidden Champion: the Lucerne-based company specializes in converting analog work processes and documents into electronic formats. In fact, it ranks among the top three in the world within this sector.

The fact that a bank account can be opened online at any time of day or night and that an insurance company can be informed of a claim digitally is largely due to the ajila, a company based in Sursee in the canton of Lucerne. And not just in Switzerland either. “We are excellent in our specialist field”, comments Raphael Bättig, who is responsible for marketing and sales at ajila, in an article published by the newspapers “Luzerner Zeitung” and “Zofinger Tagblatt”. He adds: “Our strength lies in the combination of intelligent form processes, automated contract creation and digital signatures. Very few companies are able to match this offering. In this respect, we are among the top three worldwide”.

Founded in 2003, the company spans the entire digital process, from data input, contract generation and digital signatures, all the way through to individual customer communications. In this way, ajila facilitates the digitization of even complex business processes without media gaps. The ajila client base includes reputable names such as AXA, ABB, UBS, Helvetia, AMAG and Migros.

“What was previously paper-based, tedious and error-prone is becoming more efficient, faster and less complicated”, the article states. This also increases customer satisfaction and improves sustainability, according to the marketing manager, who adds that paper consumption and physical transport through postal deliveries are also reduced in this way.

In 2019, Swisscom bought shares in the company. Raphael Bättig sees this as “a huge opportunity for further growth and success in both existing and new markets”. The two companies are set to launch a new joint product this summer: an electronic signature directly in the MySwisscom app.
