Canton of Lucerne joins Swiss Blockchain Federation
Lucerne - The Canton of Lucerne has joined the Swiss Blockchain Federation. By becoming a member, Lucerne aims to further strengthen its position as an innovation-driven business location and actively support developments in blockchain and digital assets.
The Canton of Lucerne has joined the Swiss Blockchain Federation (SBF). Founded in 2018, the national public-private partnership is committed to creating reliable framework conditions and advancing Switzerland as a leading blockchain hub. With Lucerne joining, the organisation now counts seven cantonal members.
According to the latest CV VC Crypto Top 50 Report, Lucerne ranks among the ten most active blockchain regions in Switzerland. The canton is currently home to 73 blockchain companies, with a particular strength in consulting and advisory services.
Lucerne’s key advantages include its diversified economic structure and its proximity to academic and research institutions such as the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSLU) and the University of Lucerne. These conditions create an attractive environment for companies developing blockchain technologies or integrating them into existing business models.
The decision to join the federation emerged from ongoing dialogue between businesses, public authorities and stakeholders within the regional blockchain ecosystem. The aim is to further strengthen collaboration and reinforce Lucerne’s position as a forward-looking business and innovation location.
Fabian Peter, Head of Economic Affairs of the Canton of Lucerne, emphasised that Lucerne offers excellent conditions for connecting digital innovation with the real economy. Membership in the Swiss Blockchain Federation opens up additional opportunities for companies, talent and investment.
The Swiss Blockchain Federation brings together around 100 members from business, politics and public administration. Together, they work to promote internationally competitive framework conditions and further strengthen Switzerland’s position as one of the world’s leading blockchain hubs.
