Cause Systems unmasks fake news on AI platform

Root - Cause Systems has launched a platform to fight disinformation with the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and data management. Its COMPASS shows how trustworthy a viral video, headline or other information actually is, as well as providing contextual information and judging whether it is ethically sound.

Cause Systems GmbH, which is headquartered at Technopark Luzern, is helping to detect disinformation with its platform launched on May 5, 2026. It verifies the credibility of videos, photos and text on the internet and assesses these transparently. According to a statement issued by the start-up, which was founded in March 2026, the centerpiece of this new platform is the COMPASS. This visually indicates how reliable a piece of information is, in addition to highlighting context whether it is ethically sound in a manner that can, according to the information, be readily and immediately grasped by users.

However, the system does not distinguish between true and false: “Instead, we present facts, sources, and perspectives from different angles”, according to the FAQ section of the website. This overview aims to facilitate the formation of well-founded own opinions.

Transparency is one of the key pillars of the offering from the team of the non-profit Cause Systems GmbH: “Trust is not built through technology alone, but rather on the basis of traceability and participation”. Accordingly, the user community represents another pillar: They can categorize content, provide feedback and add their own perspectives. In this way, the aim is to create a dynamic system that continuously learns and improves. “NI, or Natural intelligence, complements AI while always retaining control”, according to the statement.

The start-up does not merely regard itself as a technology provider, but also as a contributor to ensuring strong media literacy and a reliable basis for public discourse. Cause Systems is funded by foundations, grants and donations. Moreover, the company develops business offerings such as interfaces for media companies, reputation analyses and market reports. All proceeds are reinvested in the further development of the platform.
