Central Switzerland climate programme opens second round for SMEs
Root - Around 15 companies took stock of their CO2 emissions in the first round of the Central Switzerland Climate Programme. The second round is now open: SMEs from the cantons of Uri, Schwyz, Obwalden, Nidwalden and Lucerne can sign up as of now for a subsidised CO2 assessment.
The funding programme run by Zelsius and the Albert Koechlin Stiftung helps SMEs from the cantons of Uri, Schwyz, Obwalden, Nidwalden and Lucerne carry out their first CO2 assessment. The assessment identifies a company's main sources of emissions and forms the basis for a reduction plan – a topic that, according to the programme's management, is gaining relevance as business clients and public tenders increasingly ask for data on climate impact.
Depending on company size, the Albert Koechlin Stiftung covers up to 83 percent of the costs for consulting and the initial assessment. The offer is open to SMEs with fewer than 250 employees. «We want the programme to offer as low a barrier as possible to getting started with climate action,» says Marcel Niederberger, head of the Central Switzerland Climate Programme.
