Chipeno pairs truffles with chipotle chilies in new sauce

Horw - Swiss sauces and seasonings manufacturer Chipeño AG is tapping into the truffle trend. It has for the first time infused its classic chipotle chilli flavor with the prized delicacy in its new Chipeño Truffle Mayonnaise, which it says is the ideal complement for a wide range of dishes – from vegetables and meat to french fries.

Chipeno, which is based in Horw in the Swiss canton of Lucerne, has launched a new product: Chipeño Truffle Mayo. According to a statement, the sauce reflects growing interest in specialty ingredients across the Swiss restaurant industry. Truffle imports into Switzerland rose from 17,122 kilograms in 2022 to just under 25,000 kilograms last year. Tapping into this trend, Chipeno has combined the prized mushroom with chipotle chilies in its Chipeño Truffle Mayo.

«Truffles are no longer a niche product. Today, they are used to enhance a wide variety of dishes – from meat to vegetables,» Samuel Graf, CEO of Chipeno AG, is quoted as saying. «Chipeño Truffle, for example, pairs perfectly with French fries. This combination with other intense flavors shows just how versatile Swiss cuisine has become.»

The new truffle mayonnaise with a Latin American twist will soon be available online, as well as in select Coop stores and at Manor Food locations throughout Switzerland.
