Collagen membrane from Geistlich extends lifespan of implants

Wolhusen/Schlieren - Geistlich Pharma has developed a collagen membrane by the name of Bio-Gide Forte. The medical product extends the lifespan of implants and will in future be available on the North American market. Plans are in place to launch the product in Europe too.

Geistlich Pharma AG, which is headquartered in Wolhusen in the Swiss canton of Lucerne and forms part of the Geistlich Group based in Schlieren in the canton of Zurich, has, according to a press release, expanded its product portfolio of regenerative medicine developments sold worldwide with the addition of a new collagen membrane. The medical product, which goes by the name Geistlich Bio-Gide Forte, offers «reliable bone regeneration and optimal tissue integration», as the company writes in the press release.

«By combining proven Geistlich technology with greater strength, improved stability, and optimized handling», the manufacturer expects to achieve successful applications, especially for «complex clinical cases».

The consistency of the Geistlich Bio-Gide Forte membrane has reportedly proven to be firmer and more stable than the previous Geistlich Bio-Gide, especially when hydrated. The new product unfolds effortlessly, adapts flexibly to the defect, and can be cut and precisely adapted to the bone contour even when hydrated. According to the information, the membrane can significantly increase the survival rate of implants.

Following the presentation at the annual conference of the American Academy of Periodontology in October 2025, the medical device will initially be commercialized in North America. As the company writes in the press release, preparations are in progress for launching on the European market. The membrane will be available in four different sizes in the USA and three in Europe.
