«Elevator World» places Schindler’s UOB Plaza project in the spotlight
Ebikon/Singapore - The UOB Plaza modernization project is featured in the April issue of “Elevator World” magazine. For this project, Schindler installed new elevators, escalators and smart mobility technologies in the twin towers of UOB Plaza in Singapore between 2022 and 2025.
The UOB Plaza modernization project from Schindler, based in the canton of Lucerne, was presented in the April issue of «Elevator World» magazine, as detailed in a statement. The project was realized between May 2022 and August 2025 by Schindler Lifts (Singapore) Pte Ltd. The company installed a modernized vertical mobility system, which featured a total of 33 new elevators and 11 new escalators, in addition to Schindler PORT technology, in the striking twin towers of UOB Plaza in Singapore.

As part of the project, Schindler replaced the old system with 33 new elevators, including double-decker elevators, and 11 escalators, including two Schindler INTRUSS escalators. Moreover, smart mobility technologies such as Schindler PORT and Schindler Lobby Vision were integrated, allowing for facial recognition, real-time monitoring, networked systems and predictive maintenance services.
The modernization project has led to a 45 percent reduction in the average waiting time, thereby improving the passenger experience. In addition, traffic flow during peak hours has been significantly improved on the back of a 15-20 percent increase in handling capacity.
