Emmi inaugurates new milk powder facility in Dagmersellen
Lucerne/Dagmersellen - The Emmi Group has officially commenced operations at its new roller-drying facility in Dagmersellen, which features brand new rollers. This is intended to strengthen the Emmi Group’s expertise in the production of high-quality milk powder for the Swiss chocolate industry.
The dairy processing firm Emmi has enhanced its site in Dagmersellen in the Swiss canton of Lucerne with the construction of a new roller-drying facility. According to a statement, the building has now been officially inaugurated. Kost + Partner AG, working alongside other partners, realized this six-story extension within the existing footprint of the plant to facilitate the production of roller-dried milk powder, as the company states. The technical structures on the roof reach a height of up to 37 meters. Planning began in 2022, and construction in 2024.
As Emmi notes, the commissioning marks a key milestone in the further development of the location: «With the new roller, we are strengthening our expertise in the production of high-quality milk powder for the Swiss chocolate industry and making a significant contribution to the value added of Swiss milk». Moreover, the project is said to reflect the huge dedication of numerous employees and teams.
Among the guests was Kathrin Scherer, Head of Corporate Development at Lucerne Business. «Huge thanks to the Emmi Group for the wonderful event and, above all, for their long-term commitment to the Dagmersellen site», Scherer said, commenting on the inauguration. «The new roller-drying facility is an excellent example of building within an existing footprint and conservational land use, in addition to demonstrating a commitment to sustainable business practices.»
The production site in Dagmersellen is a central operation of Emmi Group, Switzerland’s largest dairy company, which generates over half of its revenue abroad. The Dagmersellen site, which specializes in the industrial production of fresh cheese products, processes large quantities of milk into fresh cheeses, chiefly mozzarella, cottage cheese, ricotta, mascarpone and quark. The new roller-drying facility now serves to expand capacities to facilitate the production of roller-dried milk powder.
