Entlebuch seeking to ensure even greater inclusivity

Schüpfheim/Lucerne/Zurich - The UNESCO Biosphere Entlebuch is reviewing its leisure offerings in terms of accessibility. To this end, it is set to team up with the Lucerne-based startup MountOn and the SRF solidarity foundation “Denk an mich” over the next 12 months.

The UNESCO Biosphere Entlebuch is committed to ensuring more comprehensive accessibility across its six destinations. For this reason, a range of different experiences are to be reviewed over the next 12 months, with the aim of achieving a pragmatic reduction in obstacles and, ultimately, better communicating the offering in terms of accessibility requirements, further details of which can be found in a press release.

To this end, the organization will work together with the Lucerne-based startup MountOn, which will be responsible for consulting with service providers as to how they can make their offerings even more inclusive during both the winter and summer months. «We are pleased to be putting the key foundations in place together so that even more people will be able to enjoy the experiences on offer in the UNESCO Biosphere Entlebuch in the future», comments MountOn co-founder Kevin Meier.

Sandro Bucher, who is responsible for all things tourism and mobility in Entlebuch, additionally points out that it is not just individual people living with mobility, vision and hearing disabilities that require accessibility solutions, but also whole families. This is above all the case when several generations like to vacation together using strollers and Zimmer frames.

The pilot project, which has been generously supported by the SRF solidarity foundation «Denk an mich» (English: Think of Me), is to be presented to the service providers covering the various destinations during a Host Day on May 14. According to Bucher, this is «a unique and fantastic opportunity» for organizations to have their own offerings analyzed in a straightforward and cost-effective manner. According to the press release, invitations are set to be sent out in the near future.
