ewz to integrate zevvy AG platform for billing
Horw/Zurich - Elektrizitätswerk der Stadt Zürich (ewz) will in future be using the billing platform developed by zevvy AG, which encompasses solar power, heating and water costs, as well as charging stations for electric vehicles. Moving forwards, this should enhance the cost-effectiveness of solar and shared self-consumption projects.
The software firm zevvy AG from the canton of Lucerne and Elektrizitätswerk der Stadt Zürich (ewz) are joining forces in the area of energy billing solutions. In future, ewz will also use the flexible billing platform, which calculates energy flows in multi-family buildings and neighborhoods, as detailed in a press release. For example, this zevvy software facilitates the billing of solar power in relation to self-consumption projects, such as those pursued by Renewable Energy Communities (RECs), virtual RECs, tenant electricity, and local electricity cooperatives, as well as heating and water costs and charging stations for electric vehicles. The platform will be deployed in the form of a white-label product, i.e., under the ewz logo.
According to the press release, ewz stands in particular to benefit from the software’s integration capabilities, which allow it to be used in conjunction with various building technology systems, monitoring platforms, smart home providers and Internet of Things (IoT) solutions. This versatility enables a flexible system architecture for future energy services and reduces lock-in effects that make it more complicated for consumers to switch to other providers or systems.
«We are delighted that further partners from the zevvy ecosystem are contributing to the success. The software facilitates compatibility with multi-tenant systems. For example, dSyde SA supports French-language projects, and Prola Services GmbH supports initial migration efforts», comments Cyrill Burch, CEO of zevvy.
The partnership has arisen from the growing importance of shared solar power and the services and technologies associated with this development. For example, active energy management in solar energy communities, as well as the concept of local energy communities (which will be introduced in January 2026), requires new solutions. In this context, ewz intends to use the zevvy software to expand its energy billing services for real estate portfolios.
