Kriens/Shenzhen/Schiedam - The Swiss car dealer Galliker Carplanet and the Chinese company BYD have signed an official distribution partnership agreement. From July 2025, Galliker will represent BYD at its sites in Aarburg in the canton of Aargau and Bellach in the canton of Solothurn, as well as Lucerne.
Galliker Carplanet, a car dealership and service provider headquartered in Kriens in the Swiss canton of Lucerne, has entered into an official distribution partnership with BYD, a Chinese manufacturer of electric vehicles, which has a European branch in Schiedam in the Netherlands. The partnership was signed during the first BYD Investor Day Switzerland in Lausanne. According to a statement, Galliker Carplanet will represent BYD at three new locations in Aarburg, Bellach, and Lucerne from July on. Each site will offer vehicle sales, consulting, and comprehensive after-sales services.
The partnership is an important milestone in BYD's market entry strategy in Switzerland, which is reliant on strong regional partners, according to the statement. «Switzerland is a key market for BYD,» Stella Li, Executive Vice President of BYD Co. Ltd, is quoted as saying in the statement. «With Galliker Carplanet, we are gaining a committed partner with operational strength, a strong customer focus, and logistical expertise – an ideal basis for sustainable growth.» BYD aims to establish a nationwide, customer-oriented sales and service network.
With 19 locations, some 450 employees, and over 150 affiliated partner companies, Galliker Carplanet is one of the largest vehicle dealers in Switzerland. The new BYD locations, for which Galliker Carplanet will take over sales and the complete after-sales offering, are scheduled to officially open in the second half of 2025.
