Galliker delivering coronavirus vaccines to the cantons
Altishofen LU – The Lucerne-based logistics service provider Galliker is supplying coronavirus vaccines to 15 Swiss cantons. Strict regulations are in place for this process. Galliker boasts 20 years of logistics experience in the field of healthcare.
The logistics service provider Galliker is responsible for delivering coronavirus vaccines in 15 cantons, as detailed in a press release. Since the end of December, the company’s fleet of refrigerated trucks has been moving Pfizer/BioNTech vaccines across Switzerland.
Reports state that strict requirements apply during transportation and storage of the vaccine. For example, the doses must be stored at a temperature of minus 80 degrees Celsius, while they can be transported at 5 degrees Celsius.
The vaccines are delivered to Galliker from the Swiss army pharmacy, where they are initially placed in special refrigerators in a secure building. From there, they are transported to the individual cantons in refrigerated trucks.
According to the press release, healthcare logistics has been one of Galliker’s core competencies for 20 years. This longstanding experience in storing and delivering pharmaceutical products is one of the reasons why the company was awarded this contract, in the opinion of CEO Peter Galliker. In addition, Galliker has all of the requisite certifications from Swissmedic.
