Geistlich Pharma appoints Diego Gabathuler as new CEO

Wolhusen/Schlieren - Geistlich Pharma appointed Diego Gabathuler as new CEO with effect from December 1. He succeeds Ralf Halbach in this role, who left the company in August 2023.

Geistlich Pharma AG has completed a change at boardroom level by appointing Diego Gabathuler as new CEO with effect from December 1, 2023, further details of which can be found in a press release. The 49-year-old Swiss national succeeds Ralf Halbach as CEO, who left the company, based in Wolhusen in the canton of Lucerne, back in August. Halbach was himself appointed CEO on July 1, 2021.

Since Halbach left the company, Andreas Geistlich, Chairman of the Board of Directors, held the CEO position on an interim basis. «The Geistlich strategic plan includes further investment in new products, solutions and technologies in order to apply regenerative medicine in helping even more people around the world», comments Andreas Geistlich in the press release, adding that: «We are convinced that Diego Gabathuler’s expertise will support us significantly in this mission». 

According to the press release issued by Geistlich Pharma, Gabathuler boasts wide-ranging experience in executive leadership positions. He was most recently employed by Ivoclar, where he spent six-and-a-half years, including a period from July 2019 through to March 2023 as CEO of the dental firm. Previous to this, Gabathuler worked in leadership positions for international companies such as Logitech, Activision und Electronic Arts.

Improving patients’ quality of life with cutting edge regenerative technology, is what drives the Geistlich teams around the world», the new CEO concludes.

Geistlich Pharma is headquartered in the canton of Lucerne and forms part of the Geistlich Group, which is headquartered in Schlieren in the canton of Zurich. The company specializes in biomaterials for the regeneration of bones, cartilage and tissue.
