Getabstract looking to outsmart AI

Lucerne - Getabstract summarizes the most important findings from specialist books and imparts this knowledge to corporate customers in particular. The Lucerne-based company does not see Artificial Intelligence as competition. In fact, it can be used to free up capacity that could otherwise be better used in quality assurance, for example

Getabstract specializes in concisely summarizing information that appears in non-fiction books, specialist articles, podcasts and video talks. Since 1999, the Lucerne-based company has summarized more than 25,000 non-fiction books, as an article published by the newspaper “Luzerner Zeitung” explains. The content is condensed into 15-minute learning units for people unfamiliar with the respective subject areas. The international corporate customers of Getabstract use these learning units for employee and management training in addition to developing strategies.

However, the Lucerne-based company does not fear the competition or even being squeezed out of the market by Artificial Intelligence (AI). “We use AI where it is logical and possible, for example for summaries or marketing activities”, explains Patrick Brigger, co-founder and COO of Getabstract, in the article. “In contrast, more capable employees will be needed in the future in other areas, for example in quality assurance”.

In contrast to AI, Getabstract also actively involves the authors of the books. Authors help to communicate the subject of their work by filming short videos or holding live seminars. “Our goal is to help people solve problems more efficiently”, comments Thomas Bergen, co-founder and CEO of Getabstract. “The summary of text, audio and video data only forms the basis for this”, he adds. Building on this, Getabstract continuously develops new approaches and tools that are intended to support the learning process. To this end, the company also leverages the benefits of AI: The tools set to be launched include a specially developed chat robot that helps to search for topics.
