GWF helps Californian college reduce water consumption
Lucerne/San Bernardino - San Bernardino Valley College has made its water management more sustainable with the help of Lucerne-based GWF’s measurement technology and system solutions. As a result, the college in California has become the first educational institution in the world to receive certification from the Alliance for Water Stewardship.
GWF has helped San Bernardino Valley College (SBVC) in California in the USA obtain certification from the Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS), according to a statement. Specifically, the Lucerne-based company, which specializes in measurement technology and system solutions for sustainable energy and water use, entered into a strategic partnership with the college. It is the first educational institution worldwide to receive this certification.
Located in San Bernardino County in southern California, the college is affected by droughts and declining water reserves. «With our high-precision sensor and data technologies, we can provide SBVC with detailed insights into water consumption, enabling the development of targeted conservation strategies,» GWF CEO Florian Strasser is quoted as saying.
With additional support from the internationally renowned Texas-based consulting firm Noverram, SBVC was able to compile detailed data on its own water footprint as well as successfully complete the certification process. «The collaboration between GWF, SBVC, and Noverram is an example of how partnerships can bring about sustainable change,» added Strasser.
Used to conserve water on campus, GWF's expertise in water balancing, water infrastructure, measurement technology, and data transmission benefits more than just the college: AWS certification complements SBVC's new bachelor's program in water management. It is reportedly designed to equip students with skills in policy, law, and technology so they can address the growing challenges of water scarcity and quality in California and elsewhere.
