GWF strengthens expertise in the gas sector with acquisition of GMT GmbH

Lucerne/Gross-Gerau - GWF AG has acquired the German firm GMT GmbH. With this takeover, GWF is seeking to secure growth in the area of metering and control technology for the gas sector. The two companies intend to jointly expand their technological expertise as suppliers of solutions for the gas industry.

As part of its strategic growth agenda, GWF AG (formerly Gas- und Wassermesserfabrik Luzern/GWF MessSysteme AG) has acquired GMT GmbH, a specialist in gas control devices and gas measurement technology from Gross-Gerau, Germany, as detailed in a press release. The focus here is on gaining expertise in the development of solutions used in the gas sector.

Accordingly, the Lucerne-based provider of system solutions for the energy and water industries is aiming to play its part in encouraging the responsible use of energy and water, in addition to optimally exploiting future opportunities that may arise in a gas industry that is undergoing a transformation process.

Specifically, with this acquisition GWF is seeking to expand its portfolio in the area of metering and control technology for the gas industry by leveraging the expertise of GMT in the development and production of gas pressure regulators and diaphragm gas meters. «We combine innovation with long-term thinking – creating value for our customers, partners, and employees», comments Florian Strasser, CEO of GWF, in the press release.

GWF uses proprietary technologies and strategic partnerships in the development and production of measurement systems for gas, water, heat and electricity. These solutions enable energy suppliers, industrial companies, property managers and operators of critical infrastructure to prepare for the challenges of the energy and water transition. The takeover of GMT is the second corporate acquisition in 2025, following on from the acquisition of Unimon GmbH, a specialist in water quality analysis, back in January.
