HSLU and elite sports center train sports managers
Lucerne/Cham - The Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSLU) is launching an in-service training course in sports management together with the OYM sports competence center in the canton of Zug. The CAS Sportspreneur program will prepare athletes and officials for key roles in sport.
The Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts and the OYM center of excellence for elite athletics and research in Cham have joined forces to offer a new continuing education program. According to a press release, the CAS Sportspreneur course is aimed at those engaged in sports who want to train to management level. Students must be at least 26 years old and have four years’ experience in marketing, communications, sales, sports management or similar activities.
The objective is to “prepare athletes, sponsors and managers for a successful career in sports and further establish Central Switzerland as a hub for sports management with broad-based appeal,” said Matthes Fleck, one of the course heads.
Initially, students can choose from five courses in this certificate course, depending on their interests. These focus on management and funding, business model development and innovation management, event management, marketing and communications and product development on the basis of data and technologies.
“Later, the individual courses can be brought together to one CAS Sportspreneur qualification,” the University says. Those completing the course will then be able to work in marketing and product management or as sustainability officers, for example.
