HSLU Launches Switzerland's First Bachelor's Programme in Business Law & LegalTech

Lucerne - Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts is launching a new Bachelor's programme in Business Law & LegalTech in autumn 2027. The programme combines law, technology and management, responding to growing demand for professionals equipped for an increasingly digitalised legal sector.

Artificial intelligence is taking over an increasing share of routine tasks in the legal sector – from contract review to legal research. This is reshaping the skills required of professionals: legal knowledge alone is no longer enough; understanding digital technologies and business fundamentals is now essential.

The Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSLU) is responding to this shift with its new Bachelor's programme in Business Law & LegalTech. Digital skills are built into the curriculum from day one, rather than added as an optional extra. That said, graduates won't need to become programmers, as programme director Prof. Dr. Christoph Hauser explains: «They bridge law, technology and management. They understand what AI can and cannot do, and can help shape how it's used within companies.»

Graduates will find opportunities in legal, tax, HR and compliance departments – for example as Legal Operations Managers or Digital Risk & Privacy Specialists. The Bachelor's programme can be completed full-time or alongside employment and starts in autumn 2027, making it, according to HSLU, the first programme of its kind in Switzerland.
