IBM joins SCION Association
Lucerne/Zurich - As a new member of the SCION Association, the IT company IBM is committed to promoting the adoption of SCION technology. This Internet architecture was developed at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich.
IBM is now a member of the SCION Association, as has been reported by the Lucerne-based association. It aims to promote the full potential of the technology developed at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH) and was founded in 2022 by ETH, SIX and the Swiss National Bank (SNB).
SCION (Scalability, Control and Isolation On Next-Generation Networks) is the architecture for the Internet of the future. Its focus is on cybersecurity, data optionality and cyber resilience for critical sectors. "Through seamless integration of the SCION technology, IBM can help organizations strengthen cyber resilience, enhance security, maximize availability, and simplify operations, enabling them to focus on driving growth with AI and Automation infused IT Support and Services," said Karin Goetz, Head of Technology Lifecycle Services at IBM Switzerland, based in Zurich.
IBM will act as a service integrator in the SCION ecosystem and, to that end, acts as a Supporter Member within the SCION Association, "the Association’s highest membership tier", according to the statement. IBM will collaborate at events, participate in committees and initiate joint activities with Anapaya, the commercial provider of SCION-based solutions. "With IBM joining the Association’s growing member community, we are better positioned than ever to make an impact globally, especially when it comes to mission-critical services and applications," said Luzius Cameron, co-CEO of the SCION Association.
