Imbach Logistik launches Zero Emissions Network

Werthenstein LU - Imbach Logistik AG has launched its Zero Emissions Network, through which it aims to achieve more sustainable transportation logistics. The company that operates as part of the Galliker Group has installed a photovoltaic plant at its Schachen site, where the electricity generated will be used to charge electric trucks.

Imbach Logistik AG, based in Schachen, a district of Werthenstein in the canton of Lucerne, launched its "Zero Emissions Network" on 13 October. According to a statement, this was a chance for representatives from politics and business to gain insight into the new infrastructure at the site.

The photovoltaic plant installed there consists of 2,600 solar modules and covers an area of 5,100 square meters. Its annual electricity output of 1,200 megawatt-hours would be sufficient to meet the average demand of over 250 households, though Imbach will use this energy to charge electric trucks. A battery storage system with a total capacity of 15 megawatt-hours has also been installed for this purpose. A medium-voltage site network completes the new infrastructure, enabling 54 charging points to be used to charge the trucks. The power output of these charging points can also be dynamically adjusted, allowing ten trucks to be charged simultaneously at up to 400 kilowatts each, or "the entire truck fleet" at 60 to 80 kilowatts each simultaneously. As part of the ASTAG Charge industry charging network, which will launch in November, Imbach Logistik will also make its new charging infrastructure available to other transportation companies.

"To decarbonize our fleet, we need more than just new trucks," said Christian Kempter-Imbach, CEO of Imbach Logistik AG. "In particular, we also need the appropriate energy and charging infrastructure. With the Zero Emissions Network, we have created the necessary conditions to further increase our share of energy supply and to fully and effectively utilize the energy we generate ourselves—both within our own operations and across the industry."

Imbach Logistik is part of Galliker Transport AG, based in Altishofen in the canton of Lucerne. Schachen is the first location where the Zero Emissions Network has gone into operation, with additional Galliker locations set to follow suit.
