Innova to integrate Cowa technology for latent heat storage

Root/Storo - Cowa Thermal Solutions and the Italian company Innova are jointly developing a new generation of heat pumps. To this end, Cowa, which is based at Technopark Luzern, is applying its technology for latent heat storage.

Cowa Thermal Solutions has announced its global partnership with Innova. Under the terms of this agreement, Innova, which is based near to Turin in northern Italy, will be integrating the phase change material (PCM)-based heat storage technology developed by Cowa in its own heat pump systems. Cowa, founded in 2019 as a spin-off from the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts and headquartered at Technopark Luzern, writes in a statement that this partnership will facilitate the development of a «new generation of solutions, combining compact design with a high degree of comfort and sustainable technology».

According to the company, this cooperation is based on technical validations and assessments that confirmed the suitability of Cowa’s PCM for the heat pump systems developed by Innova. As Cowa explains, the tests demonstrated the high performance and efficiency of the integrated solution.

For its part, Innova is responsible for the design, development and manufacturing of the systems. The company, which hails from the Italian region of Piedmont, specializes in modern solutions for heating, cooling, hot water and indoor air quality. It supports a global client base in their efforts to replace fossil fuel heating systems with sustainable alternatives.
