Komeo wins Central Switzerland New Entrepreneur Award
Malters/Lucerne - The 2025 Central Switzerland New Entrepreneur Award has been awarded to Komeo AG from Malters in the canton of Lucerne. Gewerbe-Treuhand AG presented the award to the startup specializing in non-alcoholic kombucha drinks. The other nominees were Planctons, Noara, and Nava.
Komeo AG from Malters has won this year's Central Switzerland New Entrepreneur Award. The startup was founded five years ago by a molecular biologist, an engineer, and a chef. It produces the non-alcoholic soft drink kombucha. In addition to ramp sales, the drinks are distributed via Brauerei Locher’s online shop.
The prize has been awarded by the business consulting firm Gewerbe-Treuhand AG since 1994. It honors new entrepreneurs who demonstrate exceptional ideas, above-average commitment, and promising future prospects. Their companies must be based in Central Switzerland and must have existed for at least two years but be no more than five years old. The prize is worth 10,000 Swiss francs.
According to a statement from Gewerbe-Treuhand, the jury was particularly impressed by Komeo’s brewing technology and creative kombucha product, which they considered a high-quality alternative to beer and soft drinks. For the first time, the approximately 300 guests from business, politics, and society who attended the awards gala at the exhibition center Messe Luzern were also allowed to vote.
Three other companies from Central Switzerland were nominated for the final: Nava GmbH from Merlischachen in the canton of Schwyz produces a natural, sustainable, and comfortable waste-free alternative to tampons and sanitary pads under its Hera Organics brand. Planctons GmbH from Sarnen in the canton of Obwalden designs and manufactures eyewear from single-use plastic collected by fishermen. And Noara GmbH from Kriens in the canton Lucerne offers personalized and sustainable gifts, event concepts, campaigns, and marketing consulting.
