Lucerne cantonal parliament approves further development of location promotion
Lucerne - The Lucerne cantonal parliament has approved the further development of location promotion. The proposal aims to strengthen economic framework conditions and quality of life in the canton. The electorate is expected to vote on the proposal in September 2026.
With this step, the Canton of Lucerne is responding to changing international conditions, particularly the introduction of the OECD minimum tax for large companies. This reduces existing tax advantages and increases the need to reinforce the canton’s overall attractiveness as a business location.
At the core of the proposal is a broad package of measures to enhance the framework conditions for businesses. The focus lies on strengthening innovation, research and development, as well as further developing the startup and innovation ecosystem. Additional measures address the digitalisation of public administration, the availability of commercial space and a service-oriented administration.
The proposal also includes measures aimed at benefiting the wider population. These include targeted tax relief, investments in childcare services and initiatives to support culture and digitalisation.
Overall, the Canton of Lucerne aims to secure its long-term competitiveness while maintaining its high quality of life. The proposal will next be put to a public vote, expected in September 2026.
