Lucerne firms dominate the top three of Switzerland’s best employers
The Lucerne-based firms Schindler and the Swiss Paraplegic Group have made the winner’s podium of a survey conducted by the “Handelszeitung” and “Le Temps” newspapers to determine the best employers in Switzerland. The elite group of the ten best firms also included Anliker from Emmen in the canton of Lucerne.
The two newspapers Handelszeitung and Le Temps have determined the 250 best employers in Switzerland. The coronavirus pandemic has fundamentally altered the required profile of companies, according to a report in Handelszeitung covering the rankings. The report states that companies today must above all help to shape the transition to working from home in a “professional, sustainable and technically adept manner”, before also outlining how “a good employer these days is one that takes care of both the mental and professional wellbeing of its employees as well as offering sufficient technical remote support for all these questions”.
It would appear that Lucerne-based companies do indeed boast these qualities. This year’s rankings have seen two of the three top positions awarded to companies from this canton. For example, the elevator manufacturer Schindler, which is based in Ebikon, took second place behind the Aargau-based Rivella AG, while the Swiss Paraplegic Group from Nottwil also made its way onto the podium as well by securing a third-placed finish. Moreover, with the Emmen-based construction and real estate company Anliker taking eighth place, a third Lucerne-based firm was also represented among the ten best employers in Switzerland.
The methodology behind collecting the data for these rankings has been published online by Handelszeitung alongside an overview of the top employers by industry. The category Internet, Telecommunications & IT was won by another company based in the canton, namely the Lucerne-based bbv Software Services AG. This top ranking underlines “the positive working environment at bbv, even at a time when working from home is compulsory”, explains Philipp Kronenberg, CEO of bbv, in a press release issued by bbv discussing the employer rankings.
