Lucerne offers artists residency in Chicago

Lucerne/Chicago - Artists from the canton of Lucerne can apply to spend several months in Chicago. The Lucerne-Chicago Sister Cities Partnership is awarding study visits in a residential studio.

The Lucerne-Chicago Sister Cities Partnership has announced a study visit to Chicago for artists of all disciplines from the canton of Lucerne. According to a statement, applications can be submitted until 29 February 2024. The study visit in a residential studio will be offered for a period of four to six months from 1 December 2024 to 30 November 2026.

The scholarship holders will be selected by a professional jury made up of representatives from the Lucerne-Chicago Sister Cities Partnership, the City of Lucerne Cultural Promotion Agency, the Canton of Lucerne, and the municipal and cantonal cultural promotion commissions. The evaluation criteria include artistic quality as well as professional and continuous engagement with the applicant's own field of activity. The jury also assesses the applicants' ability to engage with the Chicago cultural scene and make valuable contacts for their own work.

The Lucerne-Chicago partnership has been running the residential studio with the support of the canton and city of Lucerne since September 2001. Scholarships have been awarded every two years since then.
