Lucerne students to complete internship in San Francisco

Lucerne - Eight computer science students from Lucerne are travelling to San Francisco and Silicon Valley for a work experience placement. The ICT Silicon Valley Project Weeks have been organized by the canton of Lucerne and the agency ExchangePro. Across Switzerland, 15 trainees qualified to attend.

In October, 15 Swiss computer science students will be given the opportunity to spend three weeks on a work experience placement in San Francisco and Silicon Valley, as the State Chancellery of the Canton of Lucerne reported in a press release. The canton has organized the ICT Silicon Valley Project Weeks together with the agency ExchangePro. Eight of the students who qualified to take part come from Lucerne and attend the cantonal Berufsbildungszentrum Wirtschaft, Informatik und Technik (business, computer science and technology vocational training center).

As part of the internship, the canton says participants will have the chance to “immerse themselves in the dynamic tech industry of Silicon Valley, discover its spirit and experience the latest trends of IT companies first hand”. Furthermore, they will be able to network with startups and go to events attended by representatives from the IT sector in the USA. The program includes vocational training and cultural events.

Both the professional and social aspects of this placement will be in English. The bilingual teaching the students from Lucerne have received during their IT education means they are ideally prepared.
