The SendMeBag (Technologie & Innovation category), Fitness Integration Perspektive (Social Engagement category) and Lentl (Ecology category) projects have been presented with the Luzerner Kantonalbank (LUKB) Future Award 2025, as detailed in a press release. SendMeBag and Lentl have each banked prize money of 40,000 Swiss francs as winners of their respective categories, while the Fitness Integration Perspektive project defined a financing requirement of 20,000 Swiss francs in advance, which has now been paid out. Upgrid won the Jury Award, which comes with prize money of 30,000 Swiss francs.
The SendMeBag GmbH project, based in Horw in the canton of Lucerne, commercializes environmentally friendly reusable packaging for online retail. The packaging requires no postage to be paid and can be returned directly to post office mailboxes once the product has been received. Using packaging twice saves 40 percent of CO2, with this figure rising to more than 80 percent when reused eight times.
Lentl from Lucerne develops minimally processed lentil-based foods in collaboration with Lucerne farmers. The aim of the project is to exploit the potential of this foodstuff, widely acknowledged as a «superfood», in Switzerland. The company commits to purchasing the lentil harvest, while farmers also receive federal subsidies of 1,000 Swiss francs per hectare. The results show that that «the Swiss population truly values sustainable and healthy nutrition, and that they’re ready for more!», as Sien van Boven, co-founder of Lentl, writes in a LinkedIn post.
The Fitness Integration Perspektive program developed by the Talent Development Center Lucerne (TFZ) promotes social integration of young asylum seekers through exercise and social interactions. Generally speaking, the project is aimed at both men and women, although the project is currently in the process of developing a platform exclusively for women to encourage them to take part while respecting traditions and religious norms.
UpGrid AG from Baar in the canton of Zug facilitates direct electricity trading at a municipal level between electricity producers and consumers via a digital platform. The project aims to ensure fair compensation for the energy fed into the grid and favorable tariffs on the part of consumers.
The LUKB Future Award supports sustainable projects across the economic area that generate positive social and environmental impacts. A total of 73 projects were submitted in 2025. The award ceremony was held on July 4 in Nottwil in the canton of Lucerne.
