MountOn and Arosa Tourismus create barrier-free destination

Lucerne/Arosa - MountOn and Arosa Tourismus are collaborating to create barrier-free tourism. Together, the Lucerne-based startup and the tourism organization for the community of Arosa plan to make the recreational holiday area a destination that is accessible for all.

MountOn and Arosa Tourismus have entered into a partnership «to make Arosa the first completely accessible destination in Switzerland» according to a press release from the tourism organization for the community of Arosa in the canton of Graubünden. In collaboration with the Lucerne-based startup, barriers will be removed and access to the destination’s leisure activities will be made easier for all interested parties. The press release states that the project’s importance lies in creating inclusion and equality, which are crucial for the sustainable development of the community and tourism. Arosa Tourismus plans to create «an inclusive community that acts as a role model» in the village in the mountains of Graubünden.

MountOn focuses on making the leisure activities of Switzerland accessible so that they can be experienced by all. The startup supports tourism companies and organizations with adapting their offerings accordingly. In Arosa, the existing leisure activities in the holiday village of Schanfigg are to be checked initially and specific suggestions will be developed to improve accessibility. The long-term collaboration between the startup and the tourism organization is the first step according to Arosa Tourismus. Building on this, touristic service providers’ awareness of accessibility will be raised. By implementing the suggestions, they will benefit from increased numbers of guests.
