New Pistor logistics facility gets the green light

Rothenburg - The bakery and catering supplier Pistor has been given the green light to expand its headquarters in Rothenburg in the canton of Lucerne. Local residents voted to approve the construction plans as part of a referendum. From 2026, the company will set about building new areas for storage, goods handling and distribution.

The wholesaler Pistor AG has been given permission to expand its logistics facility at the headquarters in Rothenburg. Local residents gave the green light to this development plan at Hasenmoos Süd as part of a referendum held on March 12, further details of which can be found in press release.

This means that Pistor can now start to draw up detailed plans for new storage, goods handling and distribution areas across a plot of 31,700 square meters. Three construction stages are planned from 2026, with the company estimating that costs for this project will run to the high double-digit million range.
Part of this investment will be focused on highly automated logistics solutions. Pistor is seeking to offer its cooperative members and customers “the most efficient and reliable supply chain on the market”. Pistor mainly supplies bakeries, but also works with catering companies, hospitals and nursing homes to supply food and goods.

In future, Pistor also intends to expand its range of supplies to includes medical consumables such as hygiene masks and syringes. “The planned new building should also provide the basis for these plans”, the press release states. The cantonal government of the canton of Lucerne must still formally ratify the plans.

“We would like to thank the people of Rothenburg for the trust that they have placed in us” comments Patrick Lobsiger, CEO of Pistor, in the press release. Pistor is an important employer in the region and further afield.
