Root/Davos - Experts from the Space Systems Innovation Platform of Technopark Luzern will be providing information on the space ecosystem during two events at the World Economic Forum (WEF). They were invited by the Finnish Chamber of Commerce in Luxembourg and Switzerland, as well as by Switzerland Global Enterprise.
According to a statement, representatives from the Space Systems Innovation Platform, which was only recently founded in November 2025 and is based at Technopark Luzern, will be appearing at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos as experts for the New Space Ecosystem. On January 20, the experts are invited by the Finnish Chamber of Commerce in Luxembourg and Switzerland to its Arctic Innovation Sparks and Finland Cocktails event, which is being opened by Ville Tavio, the Finnish Minister for Foreign Trade and Development.
The evening brings together leaders from innovative Finnish companies and organizations with investors, family offices and decision-makers. The focus here will be on DeepTech, green energy and sustainability, as well as security, resilience and future infrastructure. The event is part of the Wealth & Family Office Forum, organized by the Basel Investor Forum.
On January 21, 2026, experts from the Space Systems Innovation Platform are invited by Switzerland Global Enterprise and the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation to attend their event entitled “Future Space Economy – Why No Company Can Ignore It”. This is being held on the fringes of the WEF at the temporary House of Switzerland.
State Secretary Martina Hirayama and Dr. Josef Aschbacher, Director General of the European Space Agency (ESA), will be in attendance for this occasion, which will focus on topics such as how developments in low Earth orbit, commercial space stations and manned spaceflight are transforming the global innovation landscape.
A panel discussion will explore how space-based research and industrial activities are opening up new frontiers – not only for aerospace, but also for industries such as pharmaceuticals, materials, energy and manufacturing. The participants will include ESA astronaut Dr. Samanta Cristoforetti, Dr. Walther Pelzer, Director General of the German Space Agency, Dr. Paul Bate, CEO of the UK Space Agency, and Dr. Renato Krpoun, Head of the Swiss Space Office.
