NRG Solutions to build battery storage system for Eschenbach
Root/Eschenbach - NRG Solutions will build and manage a battery storage system for the Municipality of Eschenbach over 15 years. The facility has a capacity of 15 megawatt-hours and a power output of 3.45 megavolt-amperes. The Municipality is providing the required land and will receive a fee.
NRG Solutions AG, headquartered in Root, and the Municipality of Eschenbach from the canton of Lucerne have reached an agreement on the construction and management of a battery storage system, as has been reported in a statement. In partnership with NRG Optimization AG, the startup will finance, build and manage the facility for 15 years. The Municipality is providing the required land and will receive a fee in return.
The project will be built at the Municipality’s gravel plant and integrated into the existing on-site energy supply. The system comprises three battery containers, one power container and additional infrastructure.
Eschenbach already has several photovoltaic systems and medium-voltage distribution at grid level 5. The battery storage system is intended to optimize self-consumption, reduce peak loads, optimize the timing of electricity purchases and enable participation in the market for ancillary services. To this end, it has a capacity of 15 megawatt-hours and a power rating of 3.45 megavolt-amperes.
Construction of the facility is scheduled to start in February, with commissioning planned for June 2027.
NRG Solutions was founded in 2023 and is a member of Technopark Lucerne in Root. The company develops, finances and operates battery storage systems for commercial and industrial customers.
