Obrist interior AG expands with US takeover plan
Inwil/Baltimore - Obrist interior AG is expanding its production activities with the acquisition of the US company Display Craft Manufacturing Co. The takeover helps to increase customer proximity, shortens delivery times and enables more direct action on the US market for high-quality interiors in the areas of shopfitting and interior design.
The Lucerne-based firm Obrist interior AG has announced that it has acquired the US company Display Craft Manufacturing Co. from Baltimore in the US State of Maryland, as detailed in a statement. With this acquisition, the company will reportedly increase its production capacities for the North American market.
By manufacturing locally, projects can be processed more sustainably and efficiently, as the company, which is active in the area of high-quality shopfitting and interior design, writes in the statement. This reportedly means fewer transport and freight routes, simpler logistics and packaging, as well as shorter project lead times. The expansion of its market activities in the USA is said to be a response to the high demand for short delivery times, fast response times and close collaboration with local production partners on the part of luxury and premium brands with a strong stateside presence.
Corrado Tona, CEO of Obrist interior America Inc., will assume operational management: «With this acquisition, we are gaining a strong local team, expanding our manufacturing expertise, and positioning ourselves even closer to our customers. This strengthens our competitiveness and enables us to serve the U.S. market, which we have actively developed in recent years, in an even more targeted way», he explains. In the words of owner Stefan Slamanig, the company’s existing presence in the USA is to be deepened with the aim of reinforcing the Obrist name across the entire value chain.
Display Craft Manufacturing Co. has been a supplier of retail displays, bespoke store fixtures and interior build-outs for more than 75 years. The manufacturing company employs 40 staff, who will be «gradually integrated into Obrist interior’s values and quality standards».
According to the information, the acquisition will lead to a capacity expansion, reduced dependence on external suppliers, greater flexibility, cost optimization and increased strategic resilience. Solutions for customers and projects can be implemented more cost-effectively and with a reduced environmental impact. The new production site also offers opportunities for employees at the Swiss locations.
