Official commissioning of Pilatus Arena

Kriens/Schlieren - The official commissioning of the Pilatus Arena in Kriens was marked at a pre-opening on 14 October. The inauguration ceremony of the sports facility, which is majority-owned by the Halter Group, will take place on 25 October with an opening show and home match of HC Kriens-Lucerne.

The Pilatus Arena in the canton of Lucerne is preparing for its official opening: on 25 October, Switzerland’s «most modern mid-size arena» will be officially inaugurated in front of a sold-out crowd with a grand opening show and the first home match of Handballclub Kriens-Luzern against HSC Suhr Aarau, as the Halter Group AG reported in a press release. The property developer from Schlieren in the canton of Zurich holds a 70 percent stake in Pilatus Arena AG. The remaining 30 percent is held by Caranto AG from Lucerne, a company specialising in real estate management and stadium gastronomy. Both companies are also the operators of the venue via Pilatus Arena Sports & Event AG.

On 14 October, invited guests from politics, sport and culture were given exclusive insights into the venue at the pre-opening. The Pilatus Arena offers space for 4,500 spectators and will serve as the future home of HC Kriens-Luzern, while also becoming «a new hub for sport, events and culture in Central Switzerland and beyond», as the press release explains. At the pre-opening, Lucerne Councilor of States (FDP) Damian Müller praised the project as «a promise to sport, culture, sustainability, community and emotion in Lucerne and throughout Central Switzerland».
