Oil importers join forces to promote electromobility

Lucerne - The oil importers and gas station operators that make up the AVIA Association are keen to promote sustainable mobility. To this end, they have founded a Lucerne-based start-up: AVIA VOLT Suisse AG. In a first step, the newly formed company will focus on installing rapid charging stations at AVIA gas stations.

Member firms of the AVIA Association in Switzerland, mainly independent Swiss energy importers and suppliers, are committing to sustainable electromobility. On June 29, they founded AVIA VOLT Suisse AG based in Lucerne, further details of which can be found in a press release issued by the newly formed company. The purpose of AVIA VOLT Suisse is to drive the adoption of electromobility solutions, electricity production and energy optimization in buildings.

«By founding AVIA VOLT Suisse AG we are pooling our strengths and investing in the future together. This is simply the right choice for the development of electromobility», comments Martin Osterwalder, Chairman of the Board of Directors at AVIA VOLT Suisse AG, in the press release. In a first step, AVIA shop gas stations are to be equipped with fast charging stations for electric vehicles, while plans to install charging stations at other AVIA gas stations as well as at partner companies and customers are on the agenda for a later date.

«With AVIA VOLT Suisse AG, we are offering a broad and reliable supply of e-mobility products across Switzerland», explains Alexander Streitzig, Managing Director of AVIA VOLT Suisse AG, in the press release, adding that: «This is an important step in the direction of CO2-reduced mobility in the future». In addition to promoting electromobility, the newly formed company is also keen to play a part in the expansion of solar and wind power plants. Moreover, member firms of the AVIA association are also involved in the production and sale of green hydrogen.
