Oviva integrating IoT data from Medisanté in its obesity program

Lucerne/Altendorf - Oviva, a start-up based in Altendorf in the canton of Schwyz, will now deploy the cellular-enabled smart scales developed by the Lucerne-based firm Medisanté in its efforts to offer digital support to obese people. Oviva’s care model to combat obesity includes coaches to support patients and is based on the integration of real-time IoT data.

In future, Oviva will be using the cellular-enabled smart scales developed by Medisanté in its digital program for the support of obese patients. To this end, Oviva will integrate the Medisanté platform, which supplies medical data in real time on the basis of the Internet of Things (IoT). “Having Medisanté be the trusted IoT postman for Oviva is a further validation of our medical IoT infrastructure strategy. We are committed to delivering seamless device interoperability with the Oviva platform and to minimize their devices’ Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) as they scale their programs”, comments Gilles Lunzenfichter, CEO of Medisanté, in a press release.

According to Oviva, the corresponding cooperation agreement between the two Swiss companies enables a new, networked obesity care model for those affected and their health coaches. It supplements personal care with an intelligent app that can be used to record relevant information such as meals, physical activity and even body weight.

“This allows for a better patient experience and hopefully better results in our programs”, comments Dr. Kai Eberhardt, CEO of Oviva, in the press release. To this end, Oviva works directly with statutory health insurers and national health systems in Switzerland, Germany, France and the UK.
