PIRMIN JUNG set to celebrate 30th anniversary

Sursee - PIRMIN JUNG Schweiz AG is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. Today, the owner-operated timber construction company based in Sursee employs 150 people at seven locations across Switzerland and Germany. Circular construction is now gaining importance in the modern world.

PIRMIN JUNG Schweiz AG is turning 30 years old. In 1996, it was founded by the trained carpenter Pirmin Jung as an engineering and planning office for timber construction projects. As outlined in a statement covering this important company milestone, the one-man operation has since been transformed into an “SME with comprehensive knowledge management, modern workplaces and an agile organizational structure”.

In an effort to retain valued employees, new sites were established over time – albeit “not in city centers”, as the company emphasizes, “but in easily accessible locations that are desirable for employees to live in and close to their homes”. Today, more than 150 employees work in areas such as structural engineering, fire protection, construction physics, sustainability planning and circular construction at seven sites in Germany and Switzerland.

According to the information, the projects realized by PIRMIN JUNG have consistently included ones that have helped “to shape timber construction and are still considered flagship projects today. New solutions were developed that have come to set standards in modern timber construction”. In this context, the company cites examples such as the Aquabasilea adventure pool in Pratteln in the Swiss canton of Basel-Landschaft, the seven-story C13 building in Berlin, the 60-meter-high BF1 tower in Rotkreuz in the canton of Zug and the Knies Zauberhut event center located in Rapperswil-Jona in the canton of St.Gallen.

In recent times, the company’s new headquarters in Sursee in the canton of Lucerne, the House of Wood, has been added to these examples. It serves as a development and flagship project for digital, climate-friendly and circular planning and construction. Another recent example concerns the plans for the new Dock A at Zurich Airport, which is to be built from 2030. The jury for the Prix SVC Central Switzerland 2023, which was won by PIRMIN JUNG, was particularly “impressed by the pioneering House of Wood construction project, which embodies the company’s vision for timber construction of the future”.

“A conscious approach to resources has always been deeply rooted in the company’s values”, as Pirmin Jung explains. "The demand for climate-friendly and circular construction projects will increase, and our aim is to play a key role in shaping this trend”.
