Pistor expands Chavornay site

Rothenburg/Chavornay - Pistor is investing 5.6 million Swiss francs in the expansion of its distribution center in Chavornay. The food wholesaler is adding six new truck loading docks with rail connections, as well as new logistics facilities. Its headquarters in Rothenburg, in the canton of Lucerne, are also set to be expanded in the future.

Pistor broke ground on the expansion of its distribution center in Chavornay on 12 August. According to a statement, the Rothenburg-based food wholesaler is investing 5.6 million Swiss francs in developing its site in western Switzerland. The project will involve the construction of six new truck loading docks with rail access and the addition of 400 square meters of logistics space. The number of jobs at the site is expected to increase by six to 53.

The company has operated a distribution center in Chavornay for nearly two decades. Each year, it distributes more than 20,000 metric tons of goods to over 1,300 customers in French-speaking Switzerland, including companies in the food service and healthcare sectors.

According to the statement, Pistor aims to increase its revenue in Western Switzerland by one-fifth by 2031. Twenty trucks are currently based at the Chavornay site, and the fleet is gradually being electrified. «More and more customers are choosing Pistor, especially those in the foodservice industry,» COO Thomas Gasser is quoted as saying.

Pistor began operations at its new distribution center for Eastern Switzerland in Sennwald in the canton of St.Gallen in May 2025. An expansion of its headquarters in Rothenburg is also planned. «We want to offer our customers the best and most modern supply chain available on the market,» said Thomas Gasser.
