Ramseier invests 19 million Swiss francs in filling plant

Sursee - Ramseier Suisse AG has introduced a new filling station for PET wide-necked bottles at a cost of 19 million francs. This reduces water and steam consumption as well as creating potential savings on cleaning agents. With this, the drinks manufacturer is investing in its future sustainability.

Ramseier has put into operation a new PET filling system for wide-necked bottles. The drinks manufacturer in the canton of Lucerne invested 19 million francs to underline its dedication to sustainability. The filling line generates less forerun and overrun, reduces product losses per charge and curtails food waste. “State-of-the-art technology will help significantly reduce water and steam consumption as well as the use of cleaning agents,” the company writes in a press release.

The “sustainable investment in the future” will help achieve a filling capacity of 12,000 PET bottles per hour. The filling hall has been expanded to create the requisite space. The Sursee plant also has a PET filling line for narrow-neck bottles, a glass filling line, two soft packaging plants and a bag-in-box filling line.

This new system will allow customer requirements to be met with “greater flexibility and agility”. Consumers are increasingly choosing products that have been sustainably manufactured. Particular strong sellers are the “still non-carbonated drinks” which the new system bottles. One example is the newly introduced Huus-Tee, which was bottled when the new system went live and, according to company information is sold by “restaurants and Swiss supermarkets”.
