Ramseier relies on photovoltaics in Sursee

Sursee - Ramseier Suisse AG has installed a new photovoltaic system at its Sursee site. It will generate around 400 megawatt-hours of energy per year. This will make the new PET filling line at Sursee in the canton of Lucerne even more sustainable.

Ramseier Suisse AG is relying on a sustainable energy supply at its main site in Sursee and has installed a photovoltaic system on the roofs of the filling hall and the high-bay warehouse. According to a press release, it will generate around 400 megawatt-hours of energy per year, which is equivalent to the energy consumption of 90 single-family homes.

This will make the modern PET filling line put into operation in Sursee at the start of the year even more sustainable according to the press release. The company states that investing in the PET plant is in line with its sustainability strategy and uses modern technology to reduce water and steam consumption in its drinks production.

The solar energy will now enable the company to use the region’s natural resources to reduce its dependence on fossil fuels. Christoph Richli, CEO of Ramseier Suisse AG, comments: “We are using ongoing technological advances to sustainably reduce our CO2 emissions.”

Richli goes on to add: “Versus 2013, we were able to save 1,950 metric tons of CO2 in 2021. This corresponds to an absolute CO2 saving equivalent to driving around the world 244 times.” Investments in a sustainable, energy-efficient site are in line with the sustainability strategy of the agricultural cooperative fenaco.

Ramseier Suisse is a manufacturer of soft drinks and vegetable and fruit juice drinks with locations in Sursee and Hochdorf in the canton of Lucerne and Elm in the canton of Glarus. It runs the three traditional brands Ramseier, Sinalco and Elmer. The company states that it employs around 250 individuals across Switzerland and is a part of fenaco.
