Ringier invests in Virtusan
Horw LU/Zurich - Ringier has acquired a stake in Virtusan. The start-up headquartered in the canton of Lucerne is building a digital platform for the promotion of mental health and stress management. The accompanying app is set to be launched globally in the spring of 2022.
The Zurich based media group Ringier AG has made an investment in Virtusan. This Swiss-US start-up was founded in 2020 and is headquartered in Horw in the canton of Lucerne. According to a press release issued by Ringier, the roots of the company can be traced back to 2017, when a group of neuroscientists, psychologists, data scientists and software developers from some of the best universities in the world, including Stanford and Harvard in the USA, began working on preventative health solutions for physical and mental health. The company’s platform in this healthcare segment is set to be launched worldwide in the spring of 2022.
“Mental health in particular is becoming increasingly important in light of the ongoing pandemic”, comments Marc Walder, CEO of Ringier, in the press release. “Low threshold access to mental and physical healthcare is essential. With Virtusan, users can obtain science-based, technology-driven and personalized support”, he adds.
The platform combines scientific insights with artificial intelligence (AI) and is directed at both private individuals and companies. The core offering comes in the form of an app, which will be available both on Android and Apple devices.
“Information is essential, but there is a significant difference between information and knowledge”, explains Dr. Li Wu, founder of Virtusan, before adding: “Creating a place where people can find evidence-based knowledge and data-driven facts relating to health is vitally important. Virtusan is that place”.
